Trendsic developed a custom Application Programming Interface (API) that connects Tandem Diabetes Care’s software platform to newly available blood glucose meters — decoding device data so healthcare providers can deliver more accurate, connected patient care.
Tandem Diabetes Care® designs insulin pumps that help people with diabetes and their healthcare providers manage blood glucose data and insulin delivery collaboratively.
As new blood glucose meters entered the market, Tandem needed its software platform to support them, enabling providers to pull more accurate readings from the latest devices into their existing patient care systems.
Supporting a new blood glucose meter meant creating a reliable bridge between new device hardware and a software platform patients and providers depend on for accuracy every day.
Tandem’s platform needed a way to connect to newly released blood glucose meters so providers could bring those readings into the systems they already relied on.
Meter results needed to be decoded and verified before that data could be trusted inside a clinical software platform.
Without a way to test decoded readings against known glucose concentrations, there was no proof the new meter’s data could be trusted for patient care.
Without broader meter support, Tandem risked falling behind as more blood glucose devices and technology entered the market.
Trendsic built a custom API around hands-on testing with the meter hardware itself.
Trendsic purchased Roche AccuChek Guide® meters and ran controlled tests — applying concentrations of sugar water to blood glucose test strips to generate reliable sample data.
Our team decoded the raw results from the AccuChek Guide® meter, mapping its data format so readings could be read reliably by other systems.
Using that knowledge, Trendsic created a custom Application Programming Interface connecting the AccuChek Guide® meter to Tandem’s software platform.
The project leveraged Trendsic’s expertise in custom hardware integrations to turn a complex medical device into reliable healthcare software.
This API integration reflects the same approach behind our custom software development services — tailored solutions designed around the systems and devices you already rely on.
By developing a custom API around a newly released blood glucose meter, Trendsic helped Tandem Diabetes Care expand the devices its platform supports — improving patient care and keeping Tandem competitive in a fast-moving medical device market. It's the same kind of tailored hardware and software integration Trendsic delivers for healthcare organizations across Louisiana and nationwide.
If your healthcare or medical device platform needs to connect with new hardware — or you need a custom API designed around devices that don’t have an existing integration — Trendsic can create a solution tailored to your systems.
